Dr Alex Mustard, 45 years old, from the UK, is a former marine biologist who now works full time as an underwater photographer. His images have won many international awards, including being regularly awarded in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year. In 2013, he was named European Wildlife Photographer of the Year. He has published several books including his highly-popular instructional book Underwater Photography Masterclass (2016), which was reprinted just two weeks after its launch. He is chair of the judging panel for the Underwater Photographer of the Year competition, and has acted as a judge for many other contests,including the Wildlife Photographer of the Year and the CMAS World Championship of Underwater Photography. He is Associate Editor for Wetpixel.com and has been a committee member of the British Society of Underwater Photographers for 20 years. He runs highly popular underwater photography workshops in the top diving destinations around the world. In 2016 he received the ADEX Award for Extraordinary Contribution to Underwater Photography and in 2018 was made an MBE by Queen Elizabeth II.


영국 출신의 Alex Mustard 박사는 45세로 이전에는 해양생물학자로 활동했으며 현재는 수중사진작가로 활동하고 있다. 그의 수중사진은 올해의 야생동물 사진가에 정기적으로 선정되고 상을 수여하고 있으며 국제적인 상을 수차례 수상했다. 2013년에는 올해의 유럽 야생동물 사진가로 선정되었다. 그는 인기있는 교과서인 derwater Photography Masterclass(2016)를 포함하여 몇 권의 책을 출판했으며, 이 책은 출시 후 2주 만에 재인쇄를 하였다. 올해의 수중사진작가 심사위원장을 맡고 있으며, 올해의 야생동물 사진작가 및 CMAS 세계 수중사진 선수권대회 등 다른 많은 콘테스트의 심사위원으로 활동했다. Wetpixel.com의 부편집장이며, 지난 20년 동안 영국 수중사진작가협회의 위원으로 활동했다. 세계 최고의 다이빙 여행지에서 인기있는 수중사진 워크샵을 개최한다.
2016년에 수중사진에 대한 특별 기여금으로 ADEX상을 받았으며, 2018년 퀸엘리자베스2세에 의해 MBE가 되었다.
