In addition, Keri's images have garnered awards in many prestigious international underwater photography competitions. Keri took his first underwater photograph at age 10, so even at the age of 27, he has already accumulated many years of valuable experience and expertise underwater.

케리는 세계적으로 권위 있는 많은 수중사진대회에 수중사진들을 출품하여 여러 번 상을 수상하기도 하였다. 그는 10세 때 처음으로 수중사진을 촬영하기 시작하였기에 현재 27세의 나이이긴 하지만 이미 오랫동안 수중에서 다양한 경험과 전문 지식을 쌓아왔다.

Presently, Keri is co-owner and R&D director of ReefNet, a Canadian firm that offers high quality products for underwater photographers. Being formally educated as a mechanical engineer and coupled with his love of marine life, Keri has developed photographic tools to enhance underwater photography.

현재 케리는 수중사진가들에게 수준 높은 제품을 판매하는 캐나다에 있는 ReefNet이라는 회사의 공동 소유자이자 연구개발 책임자이다. 해양생물에 대한 애정이 남다른 케리는 대학에서 기계공학을 전공하여 사진촬영 도구를 스스로 개발하여 수중사진 발전에 기여를 하고 있다.

Keri began his photo career by taking images of marine life for ReefNet’s digital marine life field guides, but shooting simple side-profile photographs for identification purposes became rather monotonous. Thus, to broaden his photographic horizons and set free his growing talent, Keri began to consciously search for and capture images of unique, unusual perspectives and behaviors in the underwater world. His success in this field was both rapid and impressive, and Keri won several international photo competitions, while still a teenager.

케리는 ReefNet의 디지털 해양생물 도감에 들어갈 해양생물 사진을 촬영하기 위해 사진가 일을 시작하였으나, 단순히 생물들을 식별할 목적으로 도감에 들어갈 사진만을 촬영하는 것은 상당히 단조로운 일이었다. 그래서 사진가로서 지평도 넓히고 자신의 재능을 맘껏 펼쳐보기 위하여 수중세계에서 독특하고 흔치 않은 장면을 찾아 자신만의 앵글로 사진에 담아내기 위해 부단히 노력했다. 그의 노력은 수중사진 분야에서 놀라울 만한 발전과 결과물을 도출하였고, 세계적으로 인정을 받으면서 10대에도 여러 국제사진대회에서 수상하는 영예를 안았다.

Keri’s early success in photo competitions proved he had potential to achieve much more, so he began experimenting with various modes and styles of underwater photography. He skillfully pushed the limits of possibilities, using the photographic tools available, thereby earning even more acclaim. Finally, when Keri reached the limits of existing tools, he deployed his knowledge of mechanical engineering to invent new ones, which he uses to create images not visualized by others and to achieve stunning photographs of our underwater world. Some of those notable innovations are now essential tools that many photographers utilize today, such as the very popular SubSee Magnifier and fiber optic snoots. In short, Keri has revolutionized super-macro and underwater snoot photography, and he continues to develop new aids that enable photographers to create hitherto impossible underwater images.

일찍이 사진대회에서 성공을 거두면서 자신의 재능과 발전 가능성을 예측하며 케리는 수중사진을 다양한 방식과 스타일로 촬영하는 실험을 시도했다. 그는 기존에 판매되고 있는 사진촬영 도구를 활용하여 최대한 능숙한 기술을 습득하여 어려운 촬영을 가능하게 함으로써 한층 더 많은 찬사를 받았다. 하지만 기존 도구로는 한계가 있다고 절감한 케리는 자신의 기계공학 지식을 활용하여 새로운 도구를 개발하였으며, 그는 이러한 도구를 사용하여 다른 사진가들이 담아내지 못하는 사진을 선보이고 경이로운 수중 세계의 사진을 촬영할 수 있었다. 이렇게 개발되어 주목받게 된 혁신적인 도구들 중의 일부는 이제 필수적인 도구가 되어 오늘날 많은 사진가가 활용하고 있다. 예를 들면 인기 많은 확대 렌즈인 서브시 매그니파이어(SubSee Magnifier)와 광섬유 스눗(fiber optic snoot)이 대표적이다. 요컨대 케리는 슈퍼마크로 및 수중 스눗 촬영에 혁신을 일으켰으며, 계속해서 새로운 도구를 개발해 사진가들이 종전에는 불가능하던 수중사진을 촬영할 수 있도록 하고 있다.
