Cave

Deep in an underwater cave in one of Mexico's many cenotes, I used a number of remotely triggered strobes placed in the background to illuminate and silhouette the thousands-of-years-old stalagmites and stalactites.

Green Algae

A young sprout of algae protrudes from the branch, resembling a green candelabra in just a few feet of water at the famous Blue Heron Bridge, in West Palm Beach, Florida. Using a prototype snoot that I designed several years ago, and a SubSee 10 diopter lens, I was able to isolate focus on this 8mm long sprout, separating it from the sandy background

녹조류

플로리다 웨스트 팜비치에 있는 유명한 블루 헤론 브리지의 수중 몇 피트에서 찍은 사진으로 녹조류의 어린싹이 가지에서 튀어나와 있어, 녹색 칸델라브라(나뭇가지 모양의 촛대)와 비슷하다. 내가 수년 전에 디자인한 시제품 스누트와 SubSee 10 디옵터 렌즈를 사용해, 모래 배경으로부터 분리하여 길이 8mm인 이 싹에 초점을 맞출 수 있었다.

One Tree Island

Raja Ampat, in eastern Indonesia, is well-known for its large picturesque mushroom islands, covered with lush greenery. However, it's difficult to photograph them in their entirety from underwater, since they are so large. This partially submerged column of eroded rock resembled their structure on a small scale, so I found it irresistible to photograph it with our cruise director as a snorkelling model.

원 트리 아일랜드

인도네시아 동부의 라자 암팟은 우거진 숲으로 덮여 있는 크고 그림 같은 버섯 섬들로 유명하다. 그러나 이들 섬은 너무 커서 수중에서 전체를 카메라에 담기가 어렵다. 이 사진에서 부분적으로 물에 잠긴 침식된 바위 기둥은 이들 섬의 구조를 작게 축소시킨 것과 비슷하여 유람선 책임자를 스노클링 모델로 하여 이를 촬영하고 싶은 마음을 억누를 수 없었다.

Sea Lion Pup

A small rocky island, called Los Islotes, located near La Paz Mexico, is home to hundreds of sea lions of all shapes and sizes. Large bulls stay near their harem of females, while some of the pups are free to explore the ocean at their own risk. Much like underwater puppies, these baby sea lions tug at your hoses, hair, and love a good belly rub. This individual was particularly playful, swimming quick circles around me, and "burping" bubbles in my direction.

바다사자 새끼

멕시코 라 파즈 인근에 위치한 로스 아이슬로테스라는 작은 바위섬은 온갖 형태와 크기의 바다사자 수백 마리가 서식한다. 커다란 수컷들은 그들이 거느리는 암컷들 근처에 머물고 있으며, 일부 새끼들이 위험을 무릅쓰고 자유로이 바다를 탐색하고 있다. 수중에서 마주치는 새끼들과 마찬가지로 이들 새끼 바다사자는 다이버의 호스와 머리카락을 끌어당기며 배를 살살 문질러주면 아주 좋아한다. 이 녀석은 특히 장난기가 있어, 내 주위를 재빨리 헤엄쳐 돌면서 내 쪽으로 거품을 뿜어냈다.
