Phil Watson (Australia)

필 왓슨은 호주 멜버른에서 활동하는 수중사진 작가이다. 그는 올림포스 하우징에 올림포스 E-PL5 카메라를 사용한다.

주로 포트 필립 베이(Port Phillip Bay) 주변의 산호초와 난파선 다이빙을 한다.

또한 환상적인 수온을 자랑하는 태즈매이니아(Tasmania)의 동쪽 해안에서 정기적인 다이빙을 한다. 그의 딸이 서울에 살고 연세대학교에 다니고 있으므로 그는 한국과 인연이 깊다.

Kelp

멜버른 바깥쪽의 해변에는 해조류가 왕성하게 서식하고 있으며, 주로 바위틈에 형성되어 있다.

Sea caves

this is the exit to one of the sea caves in Eagle hawk Peninsula,
Tasmania. It is the largest complex of sea caves in Australia.
태즈매니아에 있는 바다 동굴 중 하나의 출구인 이글호크 반도이다.
이 반도는 호주에 있는 바다 동굴 중 가장 크고 복잡하다.

Cormorant

this bird was hunting underwater at Blairgowrie, near the mouth of
Port Phillip Bay. It was very fast and I only got the one shot of it.
포트 필립 베이 근처에 위치한 블레어고우리의 수중에서 사냥을 하고
있는 새이다. 너무 빨라서 한 장밖에 찍을 수가 없었다.

Kelp forest

there are giant kelp forests(Macrocystis) on the Eaglehawk Peninsula in Tasmania.
These forests have shrunk in recent years but are starting to regrow in some areas.
태즈매니아 이글호크 반도에는 거대한 켈프 숲(Macrocystis)이 펼쳐져 있다.
최근 몇 년 동안 줄긴 했지만 일부 지역에서는 다시 숲이 형성되기 시작했다.

Seal

this large adult lives in a colony at Wilsons Promontory,

a national park south-east of Melbourne. The seals
surround divers all the time they are in the water.
멜버른 남동쪽에 위치한 국립공원인 윌슨 곶에 정착하여 살고 있는 물개이다.

물개는 다이버들이 물에 있는 동안 다이버들을 둘러싸고 항상 함께한다.

Lonsdale Wall

this photo was taken on a deep structure in the mouth of Port Phillip Bay.

 It is an ancient riverbed that descends in a series of terraces
to around 60m. The terraces are covered in sponges and other marine life.
포트 필립 베이의 입구 부분에 형성된 구조물이다.
오래전부터 강바닥 60m에 달하는 규모의 테라스를 형성하고 있다.

이렇게 형성된 테라스에는 해면들과 그 외의 해양생명체들이 자리잡고 있다.
